When most people hear the name Casey Anthony, they refer to her as the “woman who got away with murder.” In the summer of 2008, Anthony’s daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, 2, was reported missing by her grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony. After five long months of search efforts and false stories, Caylee was found dead in a heavily wooded area near her home. After police located and identified Caylee’s body, Casey Anthony, then 22, was tried for first-degree murder. However; evidence was insufficient, and Anthony was acquitted and charged with only misdemeanor counts of providing false information to police. A six week trial from May to July 2011, was debated by a jury as to whether or not Anthony should, or should not be found guilty on all counts concerning the death of her daughter Caylee; a debate in which the majority of the public hoped Caylee would receive justice, and Anthony would receive the death penalty. Unfortunately for those hoping for the latter, the jury found Anthony not guilty of first degree murder. After the trial, on October 13, 2011, a video of Casey Anthony surfaced on a website called Cheney Mason (one of Anthony’s defense attorneys) and later on the popular video site, YouTube. According to Anthony’s lawyer, the video was made by Anthony as an online video diary, but not released by her. According to Mason, the video was used by Casey for counseling during the trial, with no mentions of Caylee. However, in the video, Anthony informs her audience that there are more videos to come. The majority of viewers followed Anthony’s story from the beginning, (2008) and are awaiting the arrival of new videos in hopes of finding the truth regarding Caylee’s death; or at least insight on what kind of person Anthony truly is, or can possibly become.
